They did a great job installing our racks, fiber and copper cables for the wireless access points. They worked really fast and hard to get the job done on time. Where you put the access points matters

Dead zones usually aren’t a “slow internet” problem – they’re a placement and cabling problem. Drag the access points around this sample office and watch the coverage change.

FAQ

Network cabling questions

What does network cabling include?

Network cabling is the physical wiring of your network: Cat6 or Cat6A cable from each desk, phone, printer and Wi-Fi access point back to patch panels in a network closet, fiber between closets and buildings, and the racks and cable management that hold it together – tested, labeled and documented.

How much does commercial network cabling cost?

It depends on the number of drops, the cable type, distances and ceiling access. After a site visit we give you a written quote with the drop count, materials and schedule. Call (205) 699-8090 to set it up.

Do you install cabling outside Birmingham?

Yes. Vulcan Telecom is headquartered in Birmingham and our cabling team handles commercial projects throughout Alabama, including Huntsville, Montgomery, Mobile, Tuscaloosa and Auburn / Opelika.

Cat6 or Cat6A – which do we need?

Cat6 handles gigabit speeds to desks and phones and is right for most offices. Cat6A supports 10-gigabit over a full 100-meter run and suits Wi-Fi access points, closet links and buildings you plan to keep for many years.

Can you work with our general contractor on a buildout?

Yes. We coordinate with the GC and the other trades, run cable before the walls and ceilings close, and finish testing before move-in.

Do you also install the phone system and support the network?

Yes – that is the advantage of one company. We install cloud phone systems and provide managed IT support, so the cabling, phones and network are planned together.

“Keith went above and beyond to help us troubleshoot a problem that wasn't even related to the telecom install. There are few business owners left who are willing to invest themselves in their customers. Vulcan is one of those companies. I highly recommend them.”
