Wi-Fi is part of the stay

Guests judge a hotel or venue by its Wi-Fi almost as quickly as by its beds. Rooms with thick walls, long hallways, banquet halls full of people streaming at the same time and outdoor spaces all need coverage planned for them. That comes from access points placed in the right spots and cabled properly – not from one powerful router at the front desk. We plan coverage around how the property is used and keep guest Wi-Fi completely separate from the business network.

A front desk that never misses a call

Reservations, guests calling down from their rooms, vendors and event planners all land at the front desk. A cloud phone system answers with an auto attendant – reservations, events, the restaurant – and rings the right group of phones. Calls can roll to the manager on duty after hours, and properties with more than one location can share one system. Staff in housekeeping or maintenance can be reached on the mobile app instead of a radio.

Payments kept on their own network

Card terminals, the property management system and the back office handle guests' payment and personal details. They belong on their own protected network, never on the guest Wi-Fi, behind a properly configured firewall. Card brands require merchants to protect cardholder data under PCI DSS; we take care of the network side and work with your payment processor and PMS vendor on the rest.

Bookings live in the cloud – so does the risk

Online booking engines, channel managers and property management systems mostly run in the cloud, which makes your internet connection and the computers at the desk the critical part. We set up backup internet options where it makes sense, keep the network equipment on battery backup and make sure the front-desk computers and printers are updated and ready for a busy weekend.

Renovations and new properties

Renovating rooms or building a new venue is the right moment to get the cabling right: drops for TVs, phones, access points and point-of-sale before the walls close. Our commercial cabling team coordinates with your contractor. The Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum is one of the Birmingham attractions on our client list.

FAQ

Hospitality & Tourism IT questions

Why is our guest Wi-Fi weak in some rooms?

Usually too few access points or poor placement for the walls and layout. We plan coverage room by room and run the cabling to put access points where they are needed.

Can guest Wi-Fi share a network with our business systems?

It should not. We set up a separate guest network so guests never share a network with payments, the PMS or office computers.

Can calls go to the manager on duty at night?

Yes. Time frames route calls differently after hours, and the on-duty number can be changed in the portal.
