Network Cabling
Server Room, Network Rack & Data Center Cabling
Vulcan Telecom builds and cleans up server rooms, network closets and data center racks in Birmingham and across Alabama – racks and cabinets, patch panels, cable management, copper and fiber, labeled and documented.

A closet you can actually work in
Most network closets start neat and end up as a tangle of patch cords that nobody dares to touch. That costs time every time something breaks, makes upgrades risky and blocks airflow to the equipment. We rebuild closets so every connection has its place: patch panels, horizontal and vertical cable managers, patch cords cut to length, everything labeled and documented.
The before-and-after photos on this page come from real Vulcan jobs – including a rack we re-patched and cleaned up for a customer, and a server rack for an office that relocated.
Racks, cabinets and server rooms
For new server rooms we plan the rack layout, power, cable routing and room for growth, then install the racks or cabinets, patch panels and cable management and land the copper and fiber cabling. For companies that need to move their equipment, we relocate network racks and stay with it until everything is back online – as we did for Covenant Consulting Group.
Once the closet is organized, our managed IT team can take care of the switches, firewall and servers in it.

“Vulcan's engineers and sales reps are very knowledgeable. You can tell they have been doing IT and phone work for a long time. They fixed our network issues and provided new IP phones for way less than we were paying for local phone service. They also increased our internet speed by switching us to Charter.”
FAQ
Server Room & Data Center questions
Can you clean up our closet without taking the network down?
Usually most of the work can be done live, with the re-patching scheduled in a short maintenance window. We plan it with you first.
Do you remove old, abandoned cabling?
Yes. Abandoned cable is removed as part of a cleanup so it doesn't block pathways or confuse future work.
Can you relocate our network rack?
Yes. We relocate racks and equipment and stay until everything is reconnected and working.
Do you manage the equipment in the rack too?
Our managed IT team can manage switches, firewalls and servers – see managed IT support.
