Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery

Vulcan Telecom backs up your servers, computers and Microsoft 365, tests that the backups restore, and helps you plan how the business keeps working after a hardware failure, a storm, a fire or ransomware.

Backup & Disaster Recovery – Vulcan Telecom, Birmingham, AL

Something will go wrong eventually

A hard drive fails. Someone deletes the wrong folder. A storm knocks out power for two days. Ransomware encrypts the server. None of these are rare, and for a small business without a plan, any of them can mean days of lost work – or lost data for good. Business continuity is the plan for keeping the business running; disaster recovery is getting the systems back.

Backups that actually restore

  • What we back up – servers, important computers, and Microsoft 365 email, OneDrive and SharePoint (Microsoft keeps them running but doesn't protect you from deletion or ransomware).
  • Where – a copy on site for quick restores and a copy off site, kept separate from your network so ransomware can't reach it.
  • How often – frequently enough that you would lose hours, not days, of work.
  • Tested – we restore files and systems on a schedule, because a backup nobody has tried to restore is only a hope.

A plan for getting back to work

We help you write down the essentials: which systems matter most, how long you can do without each one, who to call, where people can work if the office is unavailable, and how phones get answered. A cloud phone system helps a lot here – calls can be routed to cell phones or another location in minutes when the office is closed.

Training and practice

Most disasters start with a person – a clicked link, a deleted file. A little training for your staff and a walkthrough of the plan once a year make sure everyone knows what to do, and that the plan still matches how you work.

FAQ

Backup & Disaster Recovery questions

Microsoft 365 is in the cloud. Do we need to back it up?

Yes. Microsoft keeps the service running, but deleted, overwritten or encrypted data can be lost. A separate backup protects it.

How quickly can we be back up after a failure?

It depends on what fails and how it is backed up. We agree on the targets with you and design the backups to meet them.
